The 1 Ducat coin, also known as the "ducatino," is one of the most iconic gold emissions in Austrian numismatic tradition. Although it bears the date 1915, it is not a coin from that era, but rather a modern minting, still produced today by the Austrian Mint using the original dies from that year.
The obverse of the coin features the profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I, ruler of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, whose head is adorned with a laurel wreath, a symbol of glory and power. On the reverse, the emblem of the Austrian Empire stands out, dominated by the imposing crowned double-headed eagle, an emblem of the Habsburg dynasty and its centuries-old dominion.
Made of gold with an exceptional fineness of 986.66 thousandths (i.e., 98.66% pure gold), this coin, along with the 4 Ducats, is one of the very few minted with such a precious alloy. The Gold Ducat not only retains a timeless historical charm but is also valued by investors and collectors for its high purity and the prestige associated with its long tradition.
